Landscape Recovery after Storm Damage

Landscape Recovery after Storm Damage

Helping Rebuild your landscape, one plan at a time! The storm has passed and now it’s time  to rebuild ( or at least clean up) the  aftermath of a storm.  This task can seem like a burden and an ordeal for any property owner or tenant, and requires  much more time and effort than picking up a few branches and broken limbs. This historical catastrophic storm in Houston has has left behind, broken homes, business and heavily damaged trees along with other large pieces of landscape that can be potentially hazardous if not taken care of as soon as possible.    It’s best to take a step back and formulate a strategic plan for the cleanup,  think landscape professionals. If you are inexperienced or elderly we would discourage you from tackling any potentially dangerous situation during cleanups, and shouldn’t “do it yourself”.  This decision will all depend on the extent of storm damage, calling the experts to remove debris like fallen trees is always a good idea.  We often hear stories of maintenance staff on client properties that have tried to cut a tree and they become severely injured and /or disabled due to lack of proper equipment and skills. You do not want to try and save money and think just anyone can cut up a tree, it is best to hire a professional.  (Utility providers, should be contacted when dealing with powerlines or “hot lines” that are tangled in trees.) Our goal here is to help you create a strategic game plan and not jump into a clean up too quickly.  Below are some helpful tips and...

Howdy! Boots & Bling at TNLA EXPO 2016

Howdy! Boots & Bling at TNLA EXPO 2016

Howdy! Welcome to Houston, Texas…..all Green Industry professionals. The streets were crowded with tourists from all over the state of Texas and surrounding states. Texas Nursery & Landscape Association set the bar high in 2016. Creating a  welcoming environment brought everyone together in one central arena, George R Brown convention center. Despite the construction, parking & entertainement was A+ rating. Many people were very excited of what was within the walls of GRB #SaddeUpTNLA 2016 Nursery/Landscape Expo. …so much that I hope you will enjoy a behind the scenes round-up of the many events we participated in this year!   For the first time this year, a small group of our team members were able to attend the Newcomer’s Shindig, this experience allowed them to connect with TNLA Chairman, Billy Long , who has a charming personality and offers everyone an opportunity to connect and really maximize our investment!   I personally enjoyed the 2nd Annual Women’s Wine & Tapas Get Together…since this event is the largest, greatest education & networking event in the state, having these small groups really makes a difference in face-to-face interactions & connecting with other industry professionals. Our Keynote presenter for the ladies was Dan’l Mackey Almy with DMA Solutions, she talked about “securing a lasting legacy” and one key take away was for each of us to really find our “why?” know it and own it. Many tips on how to lead a successful career /life….Woman empowering leadership roles within the industry …I enjoyed ever second of it! Later in the evening we all geared up with our boots & bling to go Wild,...

Website Launch

Importance of Launching A Website By: Joe Trevino Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit our website! For the past two years my wife Vanessa and I have have been operating Home Turf Texas Landscape & Design without a website.  At first this wasn’t such an issue, we were considered a small family business the first year with only a handful of commercial and residential properties under our belt. We thought in this day in age with more consumers moving toward social media to find what they need and want, we wouldn’t have a problem growing our landscaping company by solely using social media as promotional outlet. We were wrong! Social media is a great way to keep your customers informed much more quickly and let our clients know of any great deals we may have for the month. We currently use Twitter to get instant landscape industry news and share our campanies most recent projects and local events. Our Facebook business page is a great way for us  to connect with  Business Partners, Friends, Family and the Houston Community. Our Instagram and Google+ Business Page have also been very active over the past couple years, and is a great tool for before and after shots of projects. The reality check came when our company began to grow rapidly. Not a bad thing to grow in just 2 short years, but we needed a website to accommodate industry high demand for service and at the same time show our consumers our landscaping work in beautiful pictures. We also needed a website to let people know we are here, we...
